Money usually shows up tops on the list of marital stresses. Financial issues are cited as one of the biggest causes of divorce. What we earn is rarely discussed in “polite company” and most people find negotiating salaries stressful.

Curiously most of us are more comfortable talking about sex than money. Surely sex would seem to be a touchier topic than money?

So what is it about money that causes us to hide out in shame, embarrassment, guilt or fear?

We recently received an email through our website asking why we were “withholding” the price of our associate money coaching training program. While I never considered that we were withholding the information, it’s true that our fees aren’t listed on our web page.

I’ve given this question a lot of thought over the last few days. The main reason we don’t publish our fees is not that we’re hiding anything – it’s that we don’t want money to be a deterrent to having a conversation with us. We’re not looking to manipulate, push or convince – we just want to talk.

I know for a fact that the price would stop some of the rich dialogue and opportunity for exchange that we have with people who are interested in our programs. Unfortunate maybe, but true nonetheless.

With so much emotion attached to money, it’s not easy for any of us to open up the dialogue about money in an honest, respectful way (even money experts).

But we are up for the conversation. Call me. 604 880-4143
