When launching my practice, I was faced with a dilemma. I wanted control over my work schedule, the type of clients with whom I worked, and the freedom to offer solutions that were truly in my clients’ best interest, without selling financial products. Launching a practice on my own would give me the flexibility I sought, but couldn’t find among traditional financial companies.
But at the same time, I wanted support, guidance, and mentorship, as well as tools, systems, and technologies that would allow me to hit the ground running without having to reinvent the wheel – which can cost a LOT of time, energy, and money.
I found the right balance when I found Money Coaches Canada in 2012.
Over the past three years, I have learned a great deal from the two founders, Karin and Sheila, as well as their team of Money Coaches. They have figured out what works and what doesn’t, and I have benefitted directly from their experience. I didn’t know much about what money coaching as a professional was, and Karin and Sheila helped articulate the value. Fee-for-service is a great fit for me – I was looking for a way I could help people with their finances without having to sell products and this approach fit perfectly. I wasn’t sure there was a market for money coaching, but the course changed that!
The soft side of financial planning where the client is fearful or has some psychological barriers, and how to help them, simply isn’t covered in any other course. Learning how to be aware of these circumstances and how to work with a client to overcome these issues was extremely valuable. The client is paying for a direct, focused and individualized service that focused holistically on their whole relationship with money and how they can best work a plan.
The business start-up support – managing, marketing, web presence, business cards/logo design, goal visioning, and identifying the ideal client, are just some of the examples of what was covered in the exceptional course content.
