There’s a new podcast on the block, and it’s here to shake up the way we think about money. Hey Money, Get a Life! is all about flipping the script on financial stress, money anxiety, and the pressure to “have it all together.”
Hosted by Jodie Stauffer, a certified financial planner with Money Coaches Canada, the show offers a light-hearted, judgment-free space where money stops being the boss and becomes the assistant. As Jodie reminds us, money should never call the shots on the kind of life you get to live.
In this series, listeners will:
- Discover how to feel in control, even when money feels stressful
- Learn strategies for staying grounded in a hustle-obsessed world
- Find humour and lightness when money feels overwhelming
With a mix of stories, strategies, and the occasional rant, Hey Money, Get a Life! helps listeners navigate the chaos of finances without losing themselves in the process. It’s about creating freedom, perspective, and maybe even a little laughter along the way.
Whether you’re tuning in with your morning coffee, relaxing with a glass of wine, or taking a walk with your favourite furry friend, this podcast is the perfect companion.
In the first episode of Hey Money, Get A Life! Jodie gets real with Sheila Walkington, co-founder and COO of Money Coaches Canada.
You’ll hear about Sheila’s passion for helping people uncover what truly matters to them and aligning their financial decisions with those priorities. She emphasizes that money should never be the excuse for why someone can’t pursue their goals — whether that’s raising children, buying a home, or traveling.
By starting with what people want most and then examining their cash flow, she shows clients that there are always possibilities. Sheila particularly enjoys working with clients on cash flow because it brings clarity, structure, and tangible results. For many, it’s the first time they truly understand where their money is going and how to redirect it toward the things that matter most.
The discussion also traces Sheila’s career path, from her early introduction to money management by her father, to working in banking and financial planning, and eventually launching her own practice as one of Canada’s first money coaches. Over her decades of experience, she has seen clients struggle with stress, uncertainty, and societal pressures around money. She stresses the importance of behavioural finance—helping clients uncover the money lessons from their upbringing, navigate conflicting goals, and create plans that reflect their real values.
Ultimately, Sheila’s approach is about empowerment: helping people shift from feeling stuck or “behind” to seeing new possibilities, making intentional choices, and building a financial life that feels both secure and fulfilling.
